About Ministry of Local Government

The Ministry of Local Government in Uganda is tasked with overseeing the decentralization process and administering local government entities nationwide. Its core duties involve providing guidance, support, and supervision to local governments to ensure efficient service delivery and governance at the grassroots level. This ministry also spearheads policy formulation, legislative oversight, and capacity building for local government officials. Additionally, it coordinates inter-governmental relations between the central government and local authorities, fosters citizen participation and accountability, and works to strengthen institutional capacity and promote community development initiatives across Uganda.
